What presumption it is for any single human to think that his or her understanding of whether a share price will go up or down is better than the combined understanding of all others. Hundreds of millions of people have to some degree, slight or great, directly or indirectly, already weighed all the known prospects against all the uncertain weaknesses. Your investment adviser thus knows no better than you do which way the balance will tip in these scales. He knows only the where and how of investment, not the what and when of it. Fall back then on the simple fundamentals that you were taught about human foibles at your mother’s knee - Honesty is the best policy, a stitch in time saves nine, etc.. You are your own best investment adviser. Stop abdicating responsibilities that are yours alone. You must take a view.
